The Regional Planning Commission, working in concert with Jefferson Parish and LaDOTD, has undertaken the Lower Harvey Canal Crossing Draft Environmental Assessment (EA). The EA studied impacts associated with a crossing of the Harvey Canal at or south of Lapalco Boulevard in Jefferson Parish.

Two crossings were recommended as preferred alternatives in the EA. These are as follows:

A new moveable-span bridge in the Harvey Boulevard / Entergy corridor, and

Expansion of the existing Lapalco Boulevard crossing from 4 to 6 lanes via the construction of a new, parallel moveable bridge just north of the existing bridge structure.
