PACK 393 SPRING CAMPING TRIP - October 1-3
PACK
THE TENTS WERE GOING CAMPING !!!
The
Mary Ann Brown Nature Preserve

The preserve is located
5.9 miles east of Highway 61 on LA 965 just south of St Francisville
LA.
(Follow the signs to
Audubon State Commemorative Area. The Campground is 3 miles past it
on the same road.) (See attached Map - Directions from Cresent City
Connection 2hr drive)
The
Camping Trip will be a Family Camping Trip. Cub Scouts must attend
with an adult family member or guardian. Siblings are also invited,
however no pets are allowed.
Boy
Scouts Youth Protection Policies will be enforced. No youth will be
allow to sleep in the tent of an adult other than his own parent or
guardian.

Pack camping rules is at the very bottom of this page.
(There is also a Camping Checklist on the website. You won't need
the cooking gear unless you decide to cook on your own).
We
will open the campground at 4:00 pm Friday and be packed up by noon
Sunday. If you can't make it Friday night or chose to join us just
for Saturday we plan to start our activities at 9:00 am Saturday.
To
register for the event please Reply to the email with the SCOUT'S
NAME, PARENT'S NAME(s) and SIBLING'S NAME(s) and age. Include your
estimated arrival time and if your just coming for the day.
PLEASE REPLY BY FRIDAY 9-24.
WHAT'S FOR DINNER ???
The
Pack will provide food for Saturday Meals.
Individuals families will be responsible for their own:

Meal Beverages
-
Friday Night Dinner and
Sunday Morning Breakfast (continental style works best on
Sunday) and any special diet requirements and snacks.

We are also asking families to
bring a dessert for Saturday Dinner.
The
Menu for Saturday is :

Breakfast - Pancakes &
Sausage

Lunch - Campfire Pizza
Pockets

Dinner - Spaghetti &
Meatballs, Green Beans, Garlic Bread & Salad
We
will have a coolers with water & bug juice for the kids during the
day.
ACTIVITIES: (subject to change):

Hiking - There is a 2 mile loop trail.

Fishing - There is a nice pond for fishing (bring your
own pole if you have one. We supply the bait) NO SWIMMING IN
THE POND Craft Area - We have some cool projects we can't
tell you about or everyone will wanna Go.

Campfire
AMENITIES:
The campground has separate men's & women's restrooms with
flush toilets and hot & cold water.
There are no showers.
Pack Camping Event Rules
1)
Two Deep Leadership
is required at all times.
2)
Fishing is not allowed without Two Deep Leadership.
3)
No youth may sleep
in the tent other than the tent of their parent or guardian.
4)
No Alcoholic Beverages or drugs are permitted at Scout
functions.
5)
Tobacco use is not permitted by youth campers or by adults in
the presence of youth. Smoking should be done out of sight of youth.
6)
No firearms, ammunition, fireworks, or archery equipment are
permitted in camp.
7)
Sheath knives are not permitted in camp. Axes and wood tools
are not to be used by Cub Scouts or Webelos.
8)
Pet are not allowed.
9)
ATV's and ORV's are prohibited.
10)
No one may ride in the back of a truck or on a trailer.
11)
All State Park or Campground Rules must be obeyed.
FIRE
SAFETY
1)
All fires must be built and lit under direct supervision of
BALOO trained scout leader.
2)
Two 5 gal. buckets of sand or water must be next to the camp
fire.
3)
No flames in tents – this includes propane or liquid fuel
lanterns.
4)
Propane/butane lanterns and stoves are to be used only by
adults.
5)
All scouts must observe the fire ring and a limited number of
scouts should be allowed in under adult supervision.
6)
Cub Scouts and Webelos are not permitted to carry matches.
PERSONAL SAFETY
1)
All scouts must have a buddy, especially when going to the
bathroom.
2)
Close toe shoes/sneakers must be worn at all times. Open toe
shoes are NOT permitted.
3)
No running around tents. No running after dark
4)
Do not touch or pick up wild animals, reptiles, or spiders.
5)
No food is allowed in tents. All food should be secured and
sealed to avoid animal intrusion.
6)
Cub Scouts and Webelos who have earned the Whittling Chip
(card must be on their person) are permitted to use pocketknives
only under strict and continuous adult supervision.
LEAVE NO TRACE
1)
Your campsite/area must be free from trash and litter at all
times. Scouts always leave an area cleaner than they found it.
2)
Do not chop on or down any live trees.
3)
Turn off water at faucets and showers.
